Florida 2017 Vacation

We left a warm Rochester NY on the 25th of February for a nice 12 hour drive to Fayetteville NC where we dined at Circa1800 and got some rest at the Econ Lodge. A couple pics from Fayetteville.

We left Fayetteville around 630 am after eating a light breakfast and are headed to the Comfort Inn in Stuart Florida. We will visit our dear friends Pat and Roger, who are snowbirds from our home.

We are now into Florida listening  to the #Daytona500 staion. We started seeing the palm trees in South Carolina. This is already a beginning but of a great trip.

Got a good shot….Well good enough shot from the car of the Jacksonville skyline. Boy they are ready doing some serious construction on the expressway system..

Earlier today we past the exit for the #Daytona500 which was today. Congrats to Kyle Busch.

We arrived in Stuart Florida around 430 PM and got a chance to sit out by the pool for a few minutes before our friends arrived.

Once our friends arrived they drove us to BJ’s where we purchased some cranes for the front garden at the house. The car will be full on our ride home. From there we went to an awesome littler restaurant that only has seating out side. It was hard to decide Mahi Mahi or a salad.   I got salad and he got the Mahi with rice.

We woke this morning early and had breakfast at the Clarion…Love those continental breakfasts, don’t you…You just cannot beat them. We then headed out to Miami for an airboat ride to see the gators…Take a look for yourself!

Taking pics of gators and babies…

We got a chance to see many of these gators and we even got to hear one and see during a mating call…Head up and tail up out of the water…Quite an interesting experience.

From here we started our journey down to the keys and stopped a cool place for Mahi Tacos…If you have not had those you must try them and the coleslaw was to die for as well.

Then I got a great shot of a posing pelican and one of my man…Who I will forever appreciate in giving me such a good life.

From here we journied to Long Key. We will be here till tomorrow March 1st.

We will now be Leaving our stay at the Edgewater Resort on Rt 1 in long key. It has that antiquated 70’s look….However there is a reason why people such as Larry and Linda come back each year from Chicago. We met this couple here and watched two georgeous sunsets with them. Here are some pics of this awesome little place where everyone is friendly.

By the way each little cottage has a unique name…Ours was Tuna and our neighbors were Mahi Mahi….That name aslo signifies your parking destination.

Sitting out on the deck over the water using my new selfie stick.

Boy I am such a character…You would think I’m a teen lol.

This is the sunset of the first night….Pretty cool and awesome to view….It disappears so quickly.

Wow March 1st already can you believe it…Well I’m having a hard time with it.   Not really, I’m having fun. Today started with me having a headache…What else is new. Seriously we got up…Packed our bags…Had our continental breakfast and began our trip to Ft Meyers…Which I by the way slept most of the way through due to a headache.

Above is one of the many places we went to about 30 min north of Ft Meyers on Matlacha Island. I’m telling you we have some creative people on this earth. I found myself an awesome maxi like dress with a cute little shaw like sweater….John sold Scott into getting it for me as he sold others in the store to buy things as well. He is a character by the way.

We then went to have some drinks at Bert’s next to the water and later to the Blue Dog Bar and Grill where everyone had shrimp with exception to myself.   I had an awesome Greek Salad.

Later we headed to BJ’s to look at some cranes for Ellen’s garden to match ours but she decide to think about it. After we went next door to Baells where I got a bathing suit…However Scott and John each bought two….Scott also bought two shirts and a pair of shorts and John bought two pair of shorts…Whomever thought the men to out spend the women in the store….But it was Ellen and I who found our online coupons and saved some big bucks.

We must not forget to open the first bottle of the port the four of us made together this winter.

This is a Fig port that had brandy added during the making…We had so much fun together doing this and since John and Ellen had to leave before the bottling what better way than to bring a bottle to them. Once they get back from Florida we are hoping to do more.

Thursday the 2nd started out with a very relaxing breakfast with the Fazio’s. We then all got ourselves ready for some swimming in there winter community environment.

This pic above was taken at poolside with Scott. We are all happy to enjoy time together.

This pic is actually one taken by Ellen on a previous sunny day to show you the beauty of the pool. Today was a grey day.

After the swim we went back for a nice lunch of BLT…Me without the bacon and a nice salad. Once over we packed the car for our next venture and for a quick stop at #baells to catch a couple more clothing deals we found the day before….To make a return or two and use the 20% off coupon again.

We then went to the Frankenburgers to visit some old Xerox friends Mike and Bonnie in the Bradenton. We had a margarita with them. Thanks Mike, you did an awesome job. Bonnie is an author, you can find her publishings on Amazon. If I were you, I’d  search her out and get into her sequels. He is a pic of us together before leaving…Taken with my selfie stick.

We arrived in Tierra Verde about 5pm yesterday March 2nd to stay with our friends Andrew and Mary until Sunday. After our tour of their spectacular new home, our first stop was Andrew’s bar.

That evening we enjoyed an awesome steak dinner out on their Lanai Porch…Screened in area…Just up the steps and too the left in the next pic.

We got up and had and awesome breakfast made by Andrew himself using the leftover steak from last night. What’s better than steak and eggs for breakfast! Eating at the awesome kitchen bar below.

After breakfast it was time to be out doors. Mary and I lounged while Scott and Andrew enjoyed pool time.

After the weather warmed a bit, we decided to go out on the boat. Although it was a bit choppy, it was very much enjoyable. We did quite a bit of dolphin watching, enjoyed some snacks and drinks.

I really had to hold on as I did not want to take a spill. The word is that….Well I won’t say…Just better to be safe.

After the boat ride we went up to Golf Ave in St Pete to a place Called Caddy’s.

There was a rather strange character that was all interested in Andrew and Scott. See for yourself.

He ended up giving Andrew the frisbee.

We are…We danced and watched the sun go down….A good day was had by all.

This Morning March 4th, Andrew made breakfast for us. Eggs over easy, which we are out on the screened porch. They were very good.

After breakfast we drove to St Petersburg where we enjoyed the Saturday morning market. Got a pic of me and my love resting….And believe it or not there were two doTERRA booths there. Me being a doTERRA Wellness Advocate myself check out my link, intrigued.  My Business Website.

Mary met a rabbit….That scratched her by the way and then a couple booths down a homeopathic tea seller tried to rescue her with his aweful tea.

From there we went to John’s pass where we sat down to eat at Friendly Fisherman Restaurant. We had Grouper and it wasn’t at Hooters, which is by the way the only reason I ever went to Hooters….For the Grouper.

There were many little shops here where we picked up a cool little dress for me and a couple of awesome bracelets to match.

Not to bore you much…But I was still missing the bottoms to my newly purchased suit…Due to accidentally giving them up when exchanging the top….Lol. we stopped at Bealls (just before going to the market) and I found the matching bottoms and had to pay for them. Somehow we will need to call and get the credit card credited for our mistake.

On our journey back to Mary and Andrews place…I randomly looked at Facebook and found that a very best friend of minefrom Rochester was nearby on vacation. We were literally so close that Andrew insisted we stop as we were going to pass her hotel. So here is a snapshot of that moment. A Mary on my right and a Mary on my left…What could be better.

A nice boat rode, compliments to Mary and Andrew once again on the golf.  We did see a few more dolphins but enjoyed a very awesome sunset.

The next Morning Sunday March 5th, we left for South Beach, Miami with a stop in Naples to eat on the waterfront and check-out the board walk there.

Scott was able to prepare his own bloody Mary with all the fixings. After which we sat down to eat….He a nice salad and I see awesome Grouper….Yes again.

Then to complete our journey for the day after already being detoured due to a serious accident on SB I-75 and then a re-routing due to two grass fires.

Then by dusk we made it to the Westgate Resort..

To only find out our next snag. Per Andrew, no wonder the dolphin kept diving, Scott must be bad luck. I just say, it all happens for a reason. Anyway our oceanfront view room was not available, given away per some Expedia glitch….Like I believe that. Next day we see them giving tours to potential buyers. We would get that room the next day and got a good discounts for our next would nights…. Redemption but not before my tweet and re-tweet of disatisfaction.

We then went outside and enjoyed some wine in the courtyard and I took advantage and attended my online business training for doTERRA, with some awesome chics I am so glad to have met in my new endeavor.

We came in and prepared our frozen dinner of bowtie pasta with sauce and spinach, to which we added some steak pieces….Marinated in our wine…We had no spices.

After finally getting maintenance to help get our room warmed up…What an icebox it was, we then watched a bit of TV and took a nice DoTerra Jacuzzi, after which I rubbed down our feet….We slept like babies.

Upon waking, we had to pack our room in preparation for our move to the oceanfront view we had registered for. That move, happened at 1pm. We waited around till noon in hopes to enjoy the BBQ server for owners on Mondays…..At 1215 we found they had decided not to do it, as the winds are high. So we took a walk on the boardwalk and at at Cabrera’s.

After enjoying a great lunch with Mahi tacos and Ahi Tuna plate we went back land moved to our ocean front room. Around 245 we used UBER, my first experience and went to Lincoln Rd and the art deco area to explore and shop.

We noticed many people using hookahs at these outdoor restaurants, we were amazed actually. The people watching for me was at its prime compared to NYC and Toronto, which I have always enjoyed; however this took the cake. We did find a place to sit down to get a drink and rest Scott’s foot. We had noticed people drinking these huge drinks…BOGO they said for 65 or medium for 42. No way and who could drink that much. So we each chose a Martini.

Notice the pic of me has animation…How I did this I have no idea…Maybe I wanted to show the windy day we were experiencing.

After walking around doing a bit more shopping, and finding a place where we could use a bathroom, we found a great place to eat.

A very tasty dessert on Lincoln Road as well.

The next day in South Beach was less of a windy day and we were afforded the opportunity to spend time at the beach and yes as is typical of me in the sun I got a bit of a burn as did Scott. Here are a few pics of our day together.

There are a few more pics I need to add here that Scott took of me walking g the beach and me of him. It was so nice to just enjoy the whole atmosphere. So glad the wind slowed down.

Late we got dressed to go to dinner acrosse the street from Westgate.

One of my first moments with the selfie stick and not quote knowing she to cheese it. We had a good meal across the street. We sat outside and had a great meal. There was an interesting moment as the waitress spoke to us, a gust of wind cam picked up the menu and blew Scott’s drink over.

Not that we want to go around showing off receipts as to what we are or spent, but what is quite astounding is that the tip is automatically added on. This the waitress stated is done at all South Beach restaurants.  She did point out that theors was only 15% but most are 18%. It’s just not something we are use to and she was a fairly good waitress so we slipped a few extra dollars to her. Then it was time to go back to Westgate and get some sleep as we needed to leave in the Morning for Jensen Beach.

Just a perfect driver and awesome friend. He planned this trip so well… Compliments to him for driving us out of South Beach.

Next stop was to Pat and Rogers to return the sunpass they loaned us to travel back and forth through Florida and of course to see them again. After a nice outdoor lunch with sandwiches we then traveled down through Fort Pierce…Past the nuclear plant…To the Navy Seal Musuem….I recommend this stop in honor of the seals and I especially appreciated the video of Vietnam Vets….Finally getting recognized. Here are a view pics.

This was me sitting inside the above ship. And the pic below is Scott looking at me to take a pic.

Next are a few of the inside pics…You just must out this place on your bucket list. I loved it.

Should he really have this in his hand and then he tries to really mean it. Like oh boy should I run or charge.

After leaving this awesome museum we went to the beach area where Pat and Roger live and had a few snacks.

We then went out to eat at a special place called Shuckers. We are inside but the deck may have been warm enough. A return to place indeed where they have a nice little gift shop as well.

After dinner we went back to their campsite and had some key lime pie and said our goodbyes. We then made our way to the Clarion Hotel to sleep and get up early to make our way to Savannah GA to see my friend Robin.

Savannah is very historic and we had a terrific tour guide. We arrived at Robbie’s house and she served us an awesome Chicken Ceasor Salad….Afterward her son David drove us to the square. The pic above is one of the first sites.

A pic for memory sake….Scott and Robbie seem to both be movie buffs…She was out to show us a great time!

A nice shot from the Rock in Savannah nine floors up overlooking the Port.  We shared a nice drink together.

Everyone that knows Robbie knows we had to go to Wet Willie’s to get a shushy….What an awesome time.

We came upon a couple great shops in Savannah. Andrew and Mary told us you must try the pralines. We did…See brow.

Robbie was pointing out details of a home in a movie where a murder took place. Just prior to getting to this site a young couple asked about the area and Robbie told them about this. They did think we were strange. Notice Scott holding a drink. During our walk he decided to walk into a pub where he got a drink to go. He was amused that they said would you like that for here or to go. You can see what his decision was.

A famous actress stood in this booth during a movie. They have it locked, most likely for preservation. Robbie also showed us the square where Tom Hanks sat in the Forest Gump movie.

A fountain there in Savannah I found to be interesting.

The walk took us back to Robbie’s…Sorry I did not get any pics of her place under construction. I’ll get those next time but it is a very nice little home.  We then took a drive to her x husband’s house about 20 minutes away where the three of us spent the night and enjoying the evening. A pic from his home.

Then it was time to get to bed as we were leaving early to make our way to North Carolina and then it happened…Robin’s 🐒 business. In he flew and the chatter he made. Anyway he was for me. Here he is the next day in our hotel in Morrisville NC.

We started Friday looking at 11 properties for a possible build and ideas. Scott worked hard at pulling these properties together prior to our trip. We left with a lot more to think about and with many more ideas and thoughts to consider in this venture for the future

The above are pics of two of our favorites.  Both already have a dock.

After searching for property we went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner at #Epic. Epic is an awesome steak house we went to on our last venture of property searching last October.

An awesome salad….It was missing the awesome garlic we use in the summertime when making these.

We wanted to bring this home for Marge…Or the momma as we call her as she enjoys cleaning these up. This Porterhouse was absolutely delicious.

Then Saturday morning we got up and made our way to Titusville to visit with my youngest sister and her family.

When we arrived my sis had venison Taco’s ready for us….Both hard and soft…They were awesome. We had a load of fun with her family and we had some selfie fun.

Scott got the pleasure in taking advantage of my sister’s awesome massage as she is a massage therapist and with his recent fall and recovery his body has suffered. He really loved it and says she is good at what she does.

We left Sunday morning to return to Rochester…Hard to believe the trip was ending. It was great to pull this together daily to have this bits to remember this awesome trip Scott planned for us.

We returned to a weather beaten Rochester. A couple pics of my yard where power was restored Sunday night. Today on Monday many are still without power.

If you have read this come back as more pics will be added from Scotts camera….And a bit more storyline as well.
The awesome Feb 25 to March 12 2017 Floridian vacation.

Empty

It’s not fair what this life takes, oh how the heart aches,
One moment you are in awe, then its taken, leaving you as mistaken.

It’s not fair what life takes, or how
The other puts on the breaks,

It’s not remembered how you filled the void, only how concerned you are, you poured the glass full and then let it evaporate, you laid out bait, it was sour, so you sat in a chair hour by hour.

It’s not fair what life takes, its not fair what life gives. Hand me the empty glass please.

Get set, on my mark….blogging begins.

To captivate an audiance in my very first blog would be an altimate accomplishment.  In the lifetime that I have lived thus far there are so many stories I could tell you and share with you.  Some of these stories are funny and some are sad enough to bring the reader to tears.  So as I blog here you the reader will get to know the genuine individual.  What I have always known is that one day I would write as jounalizing and poetry on paper has always been a part of me.  So here I go live.   Hope all who read this have had a nice day.

Right now at this point, I like where I have been and look forward to learning more. Having grown from all my paths, I am ready to share.
